Peeling paint, quite a bit of rust, and grass growing out of the rear window. This Ford Prefect is doomed.

"One careful owner . . . "

In the 1970s you could still stumble across small-scale scrap yards in rural Britain. Environmental legislation has been succesful in cleaning up the countryside, but I'm afraid scenes like these have gone forever.

I wonder if this one was ultimately saved and has been restored?

The chrome still looks ok!

This scrap yard was situated on the road between Colombo and Kandy. Piles of 1960s British Fords, Hillmans, Austins etc.
