The four and six-cylinder Consul and Zephyr were the first British Fords to have overhead valve engines. They were also the first Fords to use McPherson strut suspension units, which provided good handling and roadholding These roomy six seater cars provided popular family motoring. The convertible models (by Car Bodies of Coventry) are particularly sought after nowadays.
