Opel Kapitän 1954-1957
A completely new design appeared in 1954. The old-fashioned looks had given way to the fashionable ponton shape. It still had the same 6-cylinder 2473 cc engine, although now Opel managed to squeeze 68 hp out of it, giving the car a top speed of 138 km/h.

The Opel Kapitän 1958-1959 P 2.5 model was even wider and lower than its predecessor. The new styling was similar to that of the new Rekord. It was built only from June 1958 to June 1959. In addition to the base model there was an "L" version. An optional overdrive cost DM 650 extra. Internally this model was known as the P-model (P for Panorama glass).

When production ceased in December 1963 145.616 units had been manufactured.

NSU RO80
The world's first production Wankel-engined saloon. Caused quite a stir when first announced. Roadholding was excellent but engine reliabilty was initally a great let-down.
